Concerning Hakata Ramen torrents, I found some examples and admin checked them out. He found that we were being blocked by their primary host, for no reason he could see. Unless they fix it or start posting on Nyaa or Anidex, some of their torrents won't make it here.
The only way for some of the more unfashionable filehosts to regain any popularity is to aim to hold onto files for a LONG time. Its the only real gap in a crowded market right now. Like, if you were after a show, and could only find a link to it that is like 2 years old or something, and you'd think "Oh, Sendspace might still have it"
Fair play to that guy for stepping into the breach
Asking as someone who is fairly incompetent in regards to computing; If any rouge elements or 'bad actors' ever tried to palm us off with shiteware.mkv, am I right in thinking that there are coders and hackers here that would spot it fairly quickly, and alert the rest of us to it?
literally lolled when reading that torrentfreak article quoting the inhouse joke of the horriblesubs 'great leader' as if it was proof of some James Bond villain tier skullduggery
"This was a hard decision to make for the team, but the truth is, our real life responsibilities have been growing, especially in the times of COVID-19. COVID-19 has really impacted us in various ways, but ultimately it negatively affected how much time we were able to frequently contribute. After some reflection and evaluation, we realized moving on was the best way forward. You could technically say COVID killed HorribleSubs."
SubsPlease is a single user who had zero connection with HorribleSubs or any other rip/fansub group. He's someone who had been doing his own rips for years for personal use and when HorribleSubs folded he decided to step up and supply his rips.
The "cartel" is a phrase and event from Nyaa's history. I hope no one knows what it was about anymore. More people don't need trouble. I think MPA maybe does and TF doesn't.
I think TF want to highlight issues and events on the subject of various kinds of file sharing.
As I said, it's Horrible shutting down that makes the story real.
I read that link and I'm now wondering if torrentfreak is pro piracy or not? The article reads like a hit-piece, worse, its actually like a satirical comedy thing. They talk of an 'anime cartel' Wow, feeling edgy guise?
The only bit were they seem anywhere groundesd in reality is where they admit: “What we can confirm is that the MPA demanded that the torrent site should be quickly shut down in September and that has clearly not happened. "
ie. posturing. They sent a letter in September, posturing and demanding that the site be shut down. And the letter was thrown in the bin. My takeaway from this is that torrentfreak.com is bogus
George Soros. He says they're doing great work, everything is fine and deefinetly no corruption or conflicts of interest, or attempts at censorship. Nope. All is good with the fact checking game... They definitely are not funded by Davos entities such as Soros or Bill Gates or the Clinton foundation. Nope. Definately no ulterior motive behind the fact checking. Just trying to help you all out. Back to your anime now. Nice autist...
I laughed at all that Q stuff for years, then I started reading some of it. They have actual documented stuff, no smoking guns as far as I can see, but a ton of actually quite shocking circumstancial stuff. And besides, its a good read when recovering with a hangover. I call it conspiritainment.
"at least two of the individuals were personally served with legal documents at their homes. Others were served with similar documents via regular mail. "
Any chance of a brief overview for those of us that don't do discord? I'm not looking for their linkin, just wondering if they wrote an 'about us' or something
admin wrote notes asking if sendspace was needed. Those who replied said no, due to its limitations and admin disabled it. We're at our resource limits and are looking to lighten our load.
Can you imagine if they took anime away from the autists? Fuck, those madmen would be bored enough to move from /a/ to /pol/ and, following the links and joining the dots as only autists can, the whole shitshow truth of our world system, the real story of lies, corruption and manipulation would be smashed in a matter of months, the ruling banking cartels, the vaticanos, the saudi and jewish mafias, the royals, the occult alphabet group, the military industrial complex, the deep state, all of it, the actual truth of the corruption and lies, the evidences of all of it would be delivered 24/7 straight into every in box and comment section in existence. The NWO don't have a memory hole big enough to cope with the sheer flood of info the autists would unleash.
I followed HS for years, there is no freakin way that they'd be intimidated, they'd piss themselves laughing at that. Regardless of how big or little a threat covid1984 is/was, especially to those of us under 80y/o with no underlying illnesses, regardless of that, 2020 has been a cunt of a year, what with the non stop nagging of the media, social and MSM. Its easy to believe that the HS founders might have just been pissed off enough with everything to call it a day. Hopefully it will just be a break though, and they'll be back subbing in some form or other sooner rather than later.
Remember you could put more data in your Mega account than your storage limit (say 50GB)?! 🙃 Now they've taken action and hold those data hostage to make those opportunistic users pay for Pro plans 😅 😂
People linking pedoshit is obviously meant to stir up trouble here. I appreciate the fact that the admins deal with all that crap in a cool calm manner.
I expect everyone now knows Horrible folded a couple of weeks after legal notices started to go out to old Nyaa associates. It was touching to see some people bought their Covid story here.
the timing indicates that subsplease are probably old members of horriblesubs, it was a big group. Just my guess though, I too would appreciate any infos on them
Anyone have any info on subsplease? They came out of nowhere just exactly as horriblesubs metaphorically an heroed themselves.
Its a little bit suss that this group came out of nowhere, yet there are a tone of people making posts that simultaneously fangirl subplease whilst dissing erai
The attack you refer to was noticed/reported immediately and we did our standard deletion. Our standard deletion gets unwanted things out of the users way by removing it from our listings and search. If someone tries hard they can find references in old comments, but such content is not why people come here and not what they are looking for.
After the attack we took countermeasures and we haven't had another attack like that land here since. A new attack will have to use different methods and we'll have to adjust to those if they happen. Additional countermeasures seem to me to be unnecessary unless the current ones fail.
-Reporting in article comments or Feedback seems easy enough to not need a button.
It took more than a month for someone to report that the anime episode released by Erai-raws for a popular anime series was actually child pornography. This shows that relying on user reports is not enough.
You should implement other methods to delete problematic content and take a proactive approach. E.g
If the content has been removed from the source link, delete it immediately
Only mirror content from Nyaa because it has the fastest review speed
Only mirror content from trusted uploaders
Programmatically check for suspicious or non-anime content in screenshots
