well, seeing the announcement, i am filled with sadness. i really loved this site, but tbh, all things must come to an end. i only hoped it wouldnt happen here :(. what series are you guys downloading to keep now? just curious and looking for suggestions :D

Good luck to you Admin. Thanks for developing, operating, and maintaining this wonderful site. You have avoided most of the major stumbling blocks that negatively affect most anime sites.
For many years you were my resource for anime that few sub groups or sites picked up. In Fall of 2024 as may of my fave sites became hard to locate as they played tag with the ppv death squads, you became my primary go to site.

I have found options to ddl most ongoing anime series and places to view the rest.
The ddl choices and scope of info you provide, not being available in one place is a great loss for our community.

Like you, I had hoped many independently created mirrors would be available by now.
I understand your choices and hope you were able to make them free of outside pressures.

After updates stop, I'll package up all attachments (subtitles, fonts etc) on the server for easier downloading (probably as a torrent).
Note that it'll all be numbered .xz files, so not easy to browse without referencing a database dump.

Is there or when this service stops then an attachments archive be made available. All sub and fonts that were extracted over the time service was active.

Why you ask?  The huge amount of series categorized information, especially from years ago, which will become almost impossible to reproduce.  This will also give the replacing alternatives the ability to, eventually, add in all your exiting data to their sites.

Not that you can’t find them yourself:
- Deleted, to much effort skimming them to filter out things like ‘has ads’ or ‘monthly log in required.’  If you want to go this route, publish your criteria list and we’ll go dig up a bunch of options for you.
- Or for <100/year use something like ifastnet.com

This is usually ISP throttle, if you can afford VPN that should get around it, but paid ones not free ones. or just rent a seedbox, let the server handle the torrenting for you.

I don't have any aggregation of search stats unfortunately.
Not sure how one would rank them either, given that searches can contain multiple terms.
I'd imagine group tags would be the most frequently searched terms.

Every day we move closer and closer to oblivion. I basically use AT as my defacto home page since I discovered this place. Firefox says I've visited my bookmark over 7k times.

Oh for the fun of it, do you have stats on the search queries? I would be interested to see a top list of searches done on the site

anyone got any reccomended alternatives to AT, ive been using the AT usenet indexer for most of my anime

Most the encoders you named have the encoding settings in the mediainfo (some groups contain this in the torrent description). Figure out how to copy the syntax info ffmpeg or handbrake (if you prefer having a GUI).

Do note anime encoding groups tend to have their settings optimised for anime and some source files are not suitable for encoding.

That's an interesting idea, but I don't really see the point in it unfortunately.

Firstly, this site wasn't designed to be operated by anyone other than myself, and there's a lot of accumulated knowledge that I have that anyone taking over would take quite some time to acquire. Thus if I just handed over the reins, they'd undoubtedly struggle without help from me.
Even if I didn't assist and they someone figured it all out from day one, your suggestion still requires me to monitor them, which is something I don't want to do.
Also the idea of pulling the plug on someone who's volunteering their efforts doesn't bode well with me, and I can't see motivated people liking such an arrangement anyway.

If someone does want to "take over", I'll be releasing the database/code so that they can do so, regardless of the issue above. They'll be able to run their own AT clone on their own terms without the added baggage of needing to pay tribute to me.

I'm hoping this shutdown encourages AT alternatives, which is something I've actually always wished for. I'm a believer that "competition" is beneficial to the community overall.

Whenever I use movavi to try to do this, it turns out like crap. Any advice? (like use a different program or what to do to not make them crap looking)

I literally tried making the new Divinity trailer just more compressed to a reasonable file size like megusta/Elite/Judas/Ember/Sokudo and it turned out like a pile of dinosaur shit.
