admin-san, have you considered handing the site over to some trusty anons, whilst maintaining an kill switch? I'm sure faggots from /a/ would jump at the chance. If you acted as basically the site landlord it would mean if any volunteers you choose drive it into the ground or abuse the site you could simply pull the plug.

Having others run it whilst you maintain control over the url etc would also give you the chance to  treat this year as a hiatus, meaning you could take up the reigns again later. Your obviously emotionally connecting to the site, and I'm sure you understand that a lot of users feel connected to the site too, even though its just an anime site, it's our anime site if you know what I mean. . 15 years, fook, what was first link here? Thank you to the admins for building and maintaining what is probably the best source of anime on the internet, I'm sorely going to miss this place if it goes.

Yeah, what I'm still thinking is as you stated, you'd post the overall backend code and such when it's due time so someone who's got the time can get the "successor / alternate" site in place when this site ceases to function on the backend (including torrent processing and distributing the files for those who aren't into torrents).

I just hope the "successor site" if any can get implement come or before the May month arrives; I've always been coming here to download episodes from the "Precure" anime shows, including the current one, "Star Detective Precure".

That all said, and as stated earlier, thanks for you 15+ years of service for this place.

Thanks for the comment. There's some discussion going on here on this page, but otherwise this site isn't really meant for discussion. There's plenty of alternatives around the internet.
Some suggestions have been made for alternatives to Usenet mirroring.

I'm not particularly fond of 'official' labeling - I think it makes the most sense for people to decide what they want to do without my influence.
If multiple mirrors pop up, that'd be ideal in my opinion - the community shouldn't be reliant on just one site.

There seems to be chat about Animetosho coming to an end? Is there no way to continue it? If admin is wanting a break from it could they maybe oversee a continuation via volunteers? I'm sure there will be many mirrors popping up if this site closes but it would be best if there is a sort of official one, no ads, no glowies etc
