Thanks again for that! Added this one to a new account and works fine. 1Fichier blocked the server's IP, so I've moved it onto a different IP. This does mean that it may take a little while for DNS to propagate over to you, but once that happens, it should be working now. Though I suspect the new IP may get blocked at some point, since there's only one account.
I didn't forget. 1fichier wouldn't accept my payment methods of choice, so I went back trying for another code. Long story short, expect another code sometime in the next 24 hours. Last try.
Anon here who said "nobody deserves being compromised"- yeah, I got it too. :p That was a statement challenging the idea that people who don't know a thing should be punished for not knowing.
You and I are aware because we read the info somewhere, or maybe someone told us- but my heart goes out to those who have little or no knowledge of what they should be wary of in the first place.
Still using r8818, but only because of an issue with Fonts Collector in later versions.
I'm gutted over the aegisub forum. Did jfs even make an announcement before closing it? Wtf happened? I even made a post in the forum asking about a donation I wanted to make (well before the forum closed), but no admin or developer answered. :(
Thanks yo but it's Win 7 till it becomes an issue then Linux all the way. Have Win 10 @ work, its a piece of trash: constant updates, eats a lot of space for no reason, has a braindead window switching thing, lots of backwards compatibility is trashed, driver problems, not to mention the spyware issue. Sure the ui is slick but at what cost? not finding my way of actually configuring the system? Who knows, maybe steam OS will become a thing and I can finally check gaming off my list.
You may want to do some testing yourself, such as: - does it happen if you download to a different location? Tried an external drive? - when does it disappear? What seems to trigger it? - does the file name matter? (i.e. try renaming the file before download) - have you tried other browsers? - does it only happen to certain types of files? - does it happen to non-downloaded files? Example: save an image or similar to the desktop - does it happen if you start Windows in safe mode?
and in perfect health
I have a feeling that you're assumption may not be as valid as you think...
Its not a rumor. Its actually in the fine print with some of their updates. They just aren't enforcing it much for now. I hope they dont get pro-active with non-Moicrosoft software. Might want to read through these when you get a chance. Some of these have steps to help secure your os somewhat.
I heard they were gonna implement some anti piracy measures into windows, but afaik those were just rumours. Maybe they actually started doing it? That would be so orwellian :D
It's strange! I've read some astounding things that can happen in Win 10, but not this one. (though I haven't encountered any of them myself)
I think upgrading to the latest version (1709) (manually not via Windows Update) and manually downloading and updating it to the latest build (through here) and then disabling automatic updates (it's quite easy on laptops but a bit challenging on desktops) can solve many problems occurring in windows 10. (And don't forget to not install latest updates right away when they become available, because they're faulty at first in many occasions)
Oh, I've googled disappearing files and apparently it is a Thing That Happens on Windows 10 (kill me). There doesn't seem to be any way to fix it because I've done all the things Google has said. It's just super annoying, but something I'll have to deal with as this computer is new and in perfect health. Sigh.
Like, what's the easiest, most direct way to give financial support to the site without compromising you, or giving my info to greasy feckers like the ones mentioned above?
Thanks for the thought, but yeah, I don't really need any financial support. It's unfortunate that file hosting sites generally are forced into these dodgy policies by financial strangulation that the payment cartel enforces.
No word back yet. Thinking it might be simpler at this point to just pay for a new account and fork that one over; I'll do that in the morning.
Thanks for going to all the trouble. I feel rather bad for accepting a second offer.
I can't disagree with it. Using uTorrent/BitTorrent (which went bad long ago) is like using IE, Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Flash Player (enabled with full permission). Don't use them. There are many other great options for each of them. One can use qBittorrent or Tixati instead of uTorrent/BitTorrent.
It's HTTPS by default since long ago without any special extensions installed. Just updated versions of Firefox and Chrome. (and don't you all use their forks!)
Original anon here; I got the key from one of the listed retailers. No word back yet. Thinking it might be simpler at this point to just pay for a new account and fork that one over; I'll do that in the morning.
Buy with Bitcoin or Webmoney if you are that cautious. There's shouldn't be issues with resellers listed on 1f site, you can always contact them for support.
Different anon here: When I read your comment a couple days ago about why direct links are down, I remembered your policy to not accept anything like donations.
I really want to help, but is there any way to do it without going through some shady reseller? Like, what's the easiest, most direct way to give financial support to the site without compromising you, or giving my info to greasy feckers like the ones mentioned above?
Thanks for the info. I tried it with another account, but got the same error. I suspect that, as part of their shenanigans, they immediately invalidated the key when I tried to add it to the rigged account. Never knew they did that. Sorry for wasting your effort :(
I definitely didn't use the code. I'll email the seller and see if I can get another one, but yeah, based on what you said I'm guessing that 1fichier killed your account. I don't suppose you could try signing up for another one and then use the code on that one?
