AV1 is only good for really small minis. AV1 was designed for low bandwidth streaming without having to pay royalties (as if pirates care}. If you are not a mini fan there is no point to change over.

If AV1 is the best, then surely many people will use it. People still continue to use mpeg products whether h266 h267 h268 and so on.
