I use a VPN, and nyaa.si still only works ~50% of the time for me. Which is why I use nyaa.land, which works 99.99% of the time.

There's pros and cons to using a VPN. Cons would include being inconvenient - not everyone wants to tunnel their entire connection just to access one website. You also may have to maintain a paid subscription, which isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Don't know what you mean by "malicious mirror", but I've been using nyaa.land for a year or two and never had any issues. There are other mirrors you can try like nyaa.iss.one or nyaa.eu, but nyaa.land is my personal favorite.
