There are far to many bears on that island and not enough game prey. Bears are omnivores but most wont just live off vegetation alone. If they do nothing they will continue to kill cattle and people. Killing cattle may not seem like a big deal but they are killing a lot of them and that brings them around people and the bears smell the food in the homes making chance of people dying higher
