This is the best release of this show, but the torrent is unseeded and the patches are DMCA’d, so it needed to be reuploaded.
This is trusted because the original torrent was trusted, mods plz no ban.
Recently there was an Italian BD release of this show that looks much better than the JPBD. Time for someone to make a decent BD release with these subs?
EDIT: Well, I guess the best source previously were the US/UK BDs, and the Italian release only looks a bit better than those. But at any rate the non-JP BDs do look quite a bit better than the DVDs.

What exactly do you mean by best here? Because I’m pretty sure Yurasyk’s 720p encode (USBD downscale) of Death Note is the best video source out there. I have yet to find a superior encode. It can be found on rutracker. Not sure about subtitles.
Not much of a surprise there when even the USBD and UKBD look better. They all use the same Q-TEC-like master, unlike the JPBD which is 1080i and features heavy denoising. It’s been known for quite a while it’s the worst of the bunch. Unless you care about 1080p credits I suppose. The real question is how the ITA BD fares against the UKBD. In my UKBD/USBD comparisons I found the UKBD has slightly better video (USBD had a couple of bitrate-starved scenes where the grain would fall apart, while UKBD did not) and increased brightness (not something I’m a big fan of). |

That’s a seller right there. |

yeah, sounds like subtitles. other BD releases probably just slapped on random subs because BD groups are all garbage. |

i remember seeing a screenshot for that death note’s JPBD release and it looked like horribly upscaled shit, but hey at least you got PCM audio tracks am i rite? |

Here are a few comparisons between FMA1394 and Yurasyk for anyone interested. |

Am I missing something here? Yurasyk’s looks a lot better. Or is someone gonna try and tell me FMA’s looks better? |

Nah, you’d be right. Yurasyk is the better/best video as I commented earlier. Though that’s to be expected at 1-2 GB per episode with virtually no denoising. I tried encoding from the UKBD a while ago but the BD authoring is a complete mess, making it tricky to even put a single episode together. And as for the results, Yurasyk is already as transparent as it gets so it’s difficult to come up with something better, even with a slightly better source. I will probably have a go at the ITA BD sometime in the distant future which I can then combine with these subs. |

The Q-tec shit is still so damn obvious in Yurasyk’s it’s completely off-putting and I don’t know why no one else seems to be bothered by it. #2, #3 and #9 are specially bad. |

Because it’s the best available. Even if you were to magically un-do the Q-TEC upscaling somehow, the USBD/UKBD/ITA BD would still be superior because the JPBD suffers from horrendous denoising, resulting in very significant blurring and detail loss. So with the only two real options being a grainy Q-TEC upscale and some blurred 1080i upscale that loses a lot of detail compared to the source, the choice is rather obvious. Of course neither is preferable, but like I said, this is the best we got. Admittedly, I don’t even think the Q-TEC upscaling is that noticeable in Yurasyk 720p. I’ve seen far worse upscales that have major ringing and aliasing from oversharpening. Hellsing Ultimate ep02 and ep03 would be good examples of that. |
