A man wakes up in a strange house with no memories of his past. He’s taken care of by the people of the village. They even give him a name: Hakuoro. Touched by the kindness of these people, he tries his best to earn his keep. But something is different about him. He is not like the other people. Not only does he have a mask that he cannot remove from his face, he lacks the animal-like features that the rest of the villagers have. Little does he know that his action will begin a revolution that will shake the very foundations of their world. Let the legend begin.

One of my all time favorite shows. The story is great, the characters are fantastic. The only small complaint about this is the dodgy CG they use for some of the large scale battles. But that pales in comparison with the enjoyment this show gives. I don’t even remember how many times I’ve watched it. It’s a self-contained story with a beginning, middle and ending. It’s a fantastic trip and you will fall in love with the characters.

I’ve always wanted to do a release of this, and never got around to it. This torrent is packed to the brim with extras, so I need to explain some things about the components. Everything comes from the US BD Box. Thank you to the person who uploaded on U2. It seems that U2 likes this show a lot as well, as the BDMV for this in on permanent freeleech. How nice of them.

  1. The series uses the subtitles from THORA, which were modified subtitles from the US BD Box.
  2. The specials also uses subtitles from THORA. I spliced in the clean ending to the 2nd special.
  3. The DVD specials were also included in the box, but they are in SD resolution. For some odd reason, these did not have subtitles, so I used the subtitles from the DVD version by Exiled-Destiny.
  4. The DVD extras are also at SD resolution, but the extended previews do not have subtitles.

If you’ve never watched this series, you need to watch it now. If you’ve seen it, give it a rewatch anyway. You will not be sorry.

would watching this spoil my enjoyment of the eroge and its subsequent games? i’ve always wanted to get into the series but i still have a lot on my plate. i haven’t allocated enough time yet to play through three games back-to-back.

No, not really. The show for the most part is faithful story wise but playing the games will give you a lot of more in-depth info (and some H scenes on the side for original Utaware). If anything, watching the show may actually make playing the games even more enjoyable. But…you will definitely need a lot of time for the games. There’s a LOT of story, a LOT of character and world building. 40-60 hours per game seems to be a fair estimate. Oh, I strongly recommend to play the first game before watching the 2nd anime series…otherwise some details won’t make sense.

DmonHiro

He’s right. Playing the game is better to do after watching the anime, since the game spoils all of the anime, while the anime only spoils part of the game. As for the 2nd series… a plot point from the game was removed from the anime. Said plot point is very important in the 2nd series.

The anime skipped two ‘important’ scenes that would lead to know who is the mother of Kuon. lol The season two sucks, they killed Atuy’s personality and skipped an entire (and important) arc.

Well, ideally the game is better but the average person won’t play 40-50 hour long novel, now multiply this by 3. So, the anime is the only way to go for your friend that watch anime but that hates to read.

I’ve wanted to watch this show since the ps4/vita games came out. Thanks!

I fully agree that this is a great show. I was really disappointed with the second “season” which had too much ecchi and was lacking in the story.

@DmonHiro : Offtopic but is there a chance to complete ‘Yoshinaga-sanchi no Gargoyle’ ?

DmonHiro

Oh yeah… I forgot about that. I heard that Sentai licensed it so I was waiting for official subs. Then I asked them about it. They have yet to respond.

Hmm…It’s not that they killed her personality but they took out a very important part of it, which changed how she reacted to certain situations and changed her relationship with the MC. She’s still my favorite girl from 2nd series (especially the game, taking her into battle with Nekone to back her up was pretty much instant win). And I loved how they did a certain now grown up pair from the 1st series. Still find Hakuro to be a much funnier MC than Haku.

DmonHiro

The problem with Haku was that he didn’t do much in the beginning. This is even worse in the anime. Why did they do that to the anime?

@SingLove After I finished the second game I started to watch the anime adaption and her personality was very different. She doesn’t have so much empathy and don’t understand what ‘love’ is, she also loves the war, fighting against powerful enemies, however, in the anime she was a shy girl that dislike the war… what?

thanks for the input! nice to know that the anime will enhance my enjoyment of the games rather than spoil it in its entirety. i’m probably going to go with this order: S1 > eroge > next two games > S2 > future S3.
