What subs should I use for the rest of the series?

My current completely unbiased recommendations are: Kizu, Nise (Coalgirls track), Neko Kuro, Second Season, Hana, Tsuki, idk for Koyomi, Owari S1, Owari S2, Zoku.

I generally don’t recommend watching Coalgirls. Some of the script decisions they made were questionable. Even the Coalgirls project manager admitted that using the official subs for Second Season was “a mistake.” Also, their encodes were not great.

What order should I watch the rest of the series in?

Doesn’t matter. Pick any popular order that puts Bakemonogatari first and Zoku Owarimonogatari last. My personal recommendation is RNG Order. (OK, just kidding—I’m just trying to emphasize that you’ll have a good experience no matter what order you choose.)

Should I pause the video to read the flashing text on the screen?

Absolutely not. Maybe on your second viewing.

apparently nobody has actually clicked the recommendations. they’re all links to mtbb besides nise which links to flfl. i don’t think he’s gonna drop nise considering he just released volume 2. well, i suppose it depends more on the people helping with the ts than it does on motbob himself. but still, i’d say there’s a good chance they’ll finish up. i highly doubt anything besides bake will be v2’d though. even if it will, im doing my rewatch as soon as he finishes nise anyway.

edit: i just realized i forgot about koyomi lmao. idk if they’ll do that one, it would require a lot of work. but it really is the worst monogatari season, so i don’t really care if they skip it.

i don’t think he will touch the commentaries. they are a nightmare to edit, and i doubt he wants to wholesale endorse those translations either. it’s not very difficult to just use them externally with his releases, so just do that if you really want to watch them.
