For the line spoke with... him. at 0:22:26.79 does not fire off on Plex or VLC player, the video freezes from 0:22:25:00 to 0:22:26:00 for me. I hear the voice line for that line; however, no subs for that one line due to the freeze.

I suspect its due to the large amount of Premonition Grad Red etc, my players can never handle a large amount of styles in one go. In the past, with other anime, it would break up the whole video for that 1 scene whenever a heavy amount of styles or signs are bundled up in one go (typically within the 1s).

Either removing TS/Mask at 0:22:25.99 or reducing Premonition of a New Beginning sign 0:22:25.99 to one line, no color allows for the last subtitle line for fire off.

I reduced it to one line of Dialogue: 0,0:22:25.99,0:22:31.00,TS/EpT,Sign,0,0,0,Premonition Grad Red,{\pos(960,650)\fs150}Premonition of a New Beginning for my fix, not sure how to adjust the gradients to be fewer lines, as having 214 lines for that 1 sign in 1 second is too much for my player to handle.

@XxUnkn0wnxX sorry to say, but if even VLC can handle it, I’m not sure what mysterious player you’re using… As mentioned, MPV is the recommended option.

It’s due to hardware acceleration; my old 10+ year old system cannot handle it. VLC: software decode works, but the subtitle fires off like a whole second late due to the lag.
And as for Plex, they use MPV as their backbone on their Plex web app or desktop app.
Same issue on Plex with hardware acceleration turned on, with it off, it fires off, but the whole video stream is a laggy mess. (CPU Spikes to well over 500%)

And yes, even plain old MPV struggles with lag on my old system. I’m forced to use a much older build, as I cannot run/compile the current releases.
Hardware decode has no lag, but the subtitle gets skipped like VLC & software decode, it lags hard, I can even hear the audio stream break up.

@XxUnkn0wnxX Yes, I’m familiar with Plex—and I even tested it on my own Plex server, which is running on a decade-old i5-3550. It handled things just fine with both VLC and MPV. So, unless your setup is from the Stone Age, maybe plain SRT would be the safer bet.
