Hayato Hayasugi is a young boy with a huge affinity for the Shinkansen, Japan Railways’ high tech bullet train system. But something strange is happening in Japan. A train of unknown origin is riding the unpowered rails late at night, and monstrous robotic beings are attacking. When a crisis occurs, Hayato finds himself in the driver’s seat of a powerful Shinkansen train with the power to become a fierce robot warrior!

Notes:
I chose to use the word “Shinkansen” rather than “New Trunk Line” or “Bullet Train” because it appears on official English language marketing in Japan.
Almost every major character in the show is named after an actual train (Hayato, Sakura, Haruka, etc.)
All the trains and stations are based on real ones. Most of them cannot turn into robots. I haven’t checked all of them.
JR is a real company. I don’t know if they have a secret robot research facility.
Hayato Hayasugi basically means FASTY MCTOOFAST.
