Attention: The batch scripts in eps. 2 and 4 will be rewritten to explain the gist of the following plot point: Okonogi Yuko’s given name is written 優子. 優しい means “gentle” (pronounced yasashii) and 子 means child/girl (pronounced “ko”), so her nickname is Yasako, meaning “gentle girl.” Same for Amazawa Yuko: 勇子 = 勇ましい (isamashii) + 子 (ko) = Isako = “brave/courageous girl.”

tl;dr: Yasako means “gentle girl” and Isako means “brave girl.” Not explaining this properly kinda ruins things that eventually happen in the series, so this will be drilled into viewers’ heads more thoroughly in the batch (it’s explained in ep. 14 but I’m not sure that’s enough as it’s a semi-recap episode that viewers might skip).
