Overall GBC didn't rank in the top 20. As far as the original anime of 2024 it looks like a joke with one of the candidates even being a 3rd season (not original for 2024.) There were less than 10,000 votes in that category, not representative of the majority of anime fans seeing as the majority never heard of the site. It looks like a site for teeny boppers.

Even on a Pi 4, LibreELEC/OSMC is laggy and all around just a terrible user experience. Nobody in their right mind should recommend a Pi for home theater purposes.

Only if they're running the equivalent of Debian Sid (unstable) - Bookworm only has 0.35.1, and Bullseye only has 0.32.0.

Though it looks like what really matters is whether dav1d is available (which it has been since Bullseye) - without that, it's going to be using libaom which is horribly slow.

Raspbian/Raspberry Pi OS is basically stripped down Debian and mpv's last update, for Debian was late Jan this year. (0.39.0)

It can easily play AV1 but not with a RPi4's weak CPU/GPU.

They might have more luck running OSMC or LibreELEC though I'd  would not guarantee that AV1 would play.

Well they don't because they'd probably be dead immediately since remuxes and seeding well isn't too common on Nyaa plus since these seem to be mostly from R1 sources , there'd still be complaining either way

Funny thing: if they're running on a Raspberry Pi and they try to install mpv via their package manager, they might end up with a version that's still too old to play AV1 properly unless they update the OS itself, because certain Linux distros just work that way.
