Specifically, which titles and how HD?  "Cartoons" around here means 5-minute short animations intended for 5 year olds.  If you want to see how different "anime" is, look for a title called "School Days", among many others.  (You will regret it.)

Anyway, 720p or 1080p?  8-bit or hi10P?  And which titles, specifically?  Or just try http://cartoon-world.org  They do a lot with Cartoon Channel programs.

btw, this might have been one of the last of Coalgirl's 8-bit releases.  I'm not sure.  In any case, file size differences between hi10P and 8-bit turn out to be not such a big deal especially when you want the best quality, as is generally the case in BD releases.  It could be used to reduce the 5.5GB to 4.5GB, but not much more without a reduction in quality.  As to chopping it down from 5.5GB to less than 1GB, well you can guess.

But this is NOT the Coalgirl's real release.  Either it is a re-encode from their release (which usually creates sub-par quality video) or they are using Coalgirl's subs, which in fact are modified Mazui-subs subs.  The Coalgirl's 1080p is 5.5GB.  The Coalgirl's 720p version is 2.2GB.

All comments at the Coalgirl's website agree, the Coalgirl's 1080p is beautiful.

At less than 1GB, you've downloaded what amounts to a mini-mkv version.  If it's good enough, that's great.  But if you want better visuals, they also exist.

Yup, that works! Didn't know that 7zip can handle 001 files! Because last time I check I thought they can't.
And what's great about 7zip that they can do both job (001 --> 7z --> mkv) in a single time and much faster!

You don't need to do that much actually. Download both parts. Select the first one(.001) or just select them both. Right click(if you're on Windows), it should say 7-zip, then select Extract here...no need to join them both, 7-zip does it automatically. That's how I do it, I'm not sure if it works for other programs though.

Sadness prevails....thanks for the response.  I went to his site somewhat often and it seemed like there was a decent amount of praise and appreciation and I don't think 'nem ever trolled any releases.  But anime folk can be prickly-waiting-for-you-to-mess-up-so-they-can-flame-their-purported-brilliance bunch rather than appreciate groups that bring us releases that we would otherwise never get or cost an arm and leg for just a few episodes.  Well we'll see what happens.  It was a good run, thanks.

Just download all archive parts (in this case, two, which are .001 and .002), combine it with HJSplit or FSJ, and after that extract the .7z archive with 7zip / WinRAR.
