This kind of interpolation adds too much "soap opera" effect not just the arterfacts. Rather leave that to the player/TV so that we can add "to taste"...
Click on Nyaa.si Info/Rules if you're interested.  They limit resolution based on source , but that's about it.  Since torrents are voluntary downloads, minimal standards, like the Asian-based content that define Nyaa's goals seem wise enough to me.
Doesn't Nyaa prohibit upscaling? Because this is basically upscaling, just a different kind (i.e. between frames, instead of within each frame).
On one hand, it's kind of impressive that the animation interpolation they're using actually works as well as it does (when it does work, anyways). On the other hand, it's absolutely hilarious how BAD it looks in the cases where it fails (e.g. where most of the screenshots were taken).
You are trolling or you are blind. How is this meme uploader still allowed on nyaa.
As someone said early on, in the AT FAQ link in the left column: "How do I join multi-part (.001, .002 etc) files?"
Oh WOW! A nag screen about buying that can either be ignored or use one of the several cures you can google. I've haven't had any issues with any of the formats I've used.
it's not opinion, 7z will not bitch about paying or shit itself with certain formats.
I suppose that is just a matter of opinion and uses. WinRAR has done everything that I've needed it to do.
Season2 please?
The series is wrong. It should be "Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hashira Geiko Hen" (18067)
Forgot to mention whatever software, app, etc. you use to join rar files you must always start by opening the first file. starting with 2nd, 3rd, etc. wont work.
For pc Id suggest Winrar. Install Winrar and that's it. You don't even have to open the app.

After Winrar is installed the easiest method is to just right click on the first file in question and select extract (to your desired destination (here or selected folder or whatever) and that's basically it. the video will be extracted.
Note that in most cases you should download every file from the same source. Using different download sources for each rar files usually results in an error.
duplicating frames to high heaven while starving the bits with lack of bitrate is not an improvement. this is vastly worse quality than just watching SubsPlease.

You can enjoy and like this is you want, but don't try to spread bullshit.
Ive used Winrar on pc for decades. Just asking how to join without stating the device is to vague of a question. Try reading this .....

You should know uploading encodes with more advanced options such as this really does improve the quality of enjoyment. Especially for those of us who think progress is moving too slowly when it comes to graphic/video quality and such. Thanks!
I really truly appreciate your uploads. Thanks for going the extra distance for our enjoyment fidelity. I hope more people engage and keep giving forward for the betterment of all. Exploring more options and including expert uploads.
this is an "unofficial batch" so the subs are unchanged.
Just extract part 1 as long in the same folder, part 2 part 3 etc will follow.
May I get a chance to download this, please?
You are right to an extent, but I'm starting from the premise that most weebs don't possess an HDR compatible display, besides maybe their phone. I'm more or less expecting that people will encounter issues because they are clueless about the subject (nothing wrong with that, that's why I'm warning them in the first place).

I'm inclined to say the software part is the most important, because even if the hardware isn't compatible, a competent media player will fallback to another solution (here tonemapping), while a bad player will display the video incorrectly or simply refuse to play the file altogether.
Look up
Dolby Vision - HDR - HDR10 - HDR10+
A 1080p or 4k capable device doesn't mean it also has HDR capability. You get what you pay for.
I'm no expert in encoding but isn't it more to do with the video hardware being used? I use Klite with MPC and just let it do its thing. No changes to media player. Once I play any video in 4k or HDR my 2021 LG OLED tv automatically detects 4k and/or HDR and compensates and automatically goes into that mode. The detected mode is shown on the tv when it changes.
Playing 4k on a tv/monitor that isn't capable of down-scaling either wont wont play at all or wont without major issues. Trying to play HDR video on a non HDR tv/monitor will likely play but the quality wont be like its intended. Unless you have a high end or higher end mid range your tv/monitor probably isn't capable of playing HDR properly regardless of the software media player.
Just my own experiences with my high end 4k tvs and my older tvs/monitors that cant do HDR or 4k.

Please correct me if I'm wrong on anything Ive stated. Yes the media player plays a part but I'm pretty sure the hardware is the most important part. You cant expect get results on low end/low mid video hardware. I don't encode but Ive downloaded petabytes of media over the past 3+ decades and usually stick with the higher quality releases 99.9% of the time So going by strictly my own experience.
Ah  another episode of "that time I was reincarnated as a Goblin"....  oh wait... sorry my bad!
Toonshub never provided 720p. he's been here for a long time, this person: Lex is still stupid.

pop ads yikes
AT scraps Nyaa, anidex and TT English-Translated.  If they torrent to those it comes here, if not then not.
Allegedly there is another non-MTL "Girls Band Cry" eng-sub release, besides Sobsplease and NakaYubi. It's called Sasugasubs and I wonder if AT doesn't carry it?
Assuming you are using a media player that does a competent job at tonemapping or displaying HDR content, the video won't look washed out like this :)
As I pointed out in the release description:

"Even at CQ20, I’m surprised at the extremely low bitrate I ended up with, and unfortunately it comes with the perk of the video being quite a bit distorted at times. If you can notice these artifacts in motion, I recommend you to get my 4K version instead. Alternatively, a 1080p v2 will see the light of day when we get proper .ass subtitles."

I decided to release this anyway because I knew many people would not mind, but I still intend to make a v2 encode for those who do mind.

Thanks for the info, but that's for your setup.
The decision to tonemap should be done by the client, not the server. The server just needs to flag the image with the corresponding transfer function, and let the client decide on how it should be rendered.
