It's time to say goodbye for this site. Let me share some of my method ddl torrent anime for those who isp blocking the usage. As usual you can grab the magnet from nyaa. Copy magnet link to seedr.cc and now you can direct download it. Theres limit to 4.5gb total size for free user. If for some reason you can't download it (happen sometimes), I use webtor.io. This one have limited speed and a lot of ads. But you can direct download 1 specific file in torrent instead batch downloading all. For checking schedule I just use livechart.me. Open nyaa and type the title, grab the magnet and use on seedr or webtor to ddl. I do really hope someone at least make simple clean view site like animetosho so I can just skip checking schedule and search on nyaa, by just grabbing magnet link for today show only 😅

Well it's to sad to hear. I have been using this site for like 9 and halp year. It's has been too nice for me to continue watching animes with out any interruption.I still remember how I found this site in the internet while looking for a clean site for downloading animes.I know it's been too long for yourself also like 15 years. 15 years is a long time! I can't imagine how many hours you'll get back, how much time you'll have to live and pursue other interests. Like many others have said, this site is a blessing. As streaming has canibilized itself more and more, there has always been this incredible site. Sadly, I don't even know how many years I've been coming here, but I will miss the incredible work and the DDLs. Thank you!

This is absolutely the best anime index site in the world.  It will be missed. For a long time.  Your work has been "above and beyond" for years.  Most reliable, best coverage, retention that exceeds most usenet providers, embedded (excellent) search engine, superb user interface...  Sigh.  I could continue for paragraphs.  Like Joni Mitchell once said, "you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone".

There doesn't seem to be much out there. At least as far as torrent mirrors are concerned. There's a handful of DDL sites but they only seem to share their own encodes of dubious quality with the slowest mirrors they could find, so they probably aren't much better than the dime a dozen streaming sites that have been around for 20 plus years. There's a couple XDCC bots still uploading some airing anime, but it's nowhere near the reliable option it used to be

Someone linked a site a few pages back that mirrors whatever torrent link you feed to it, and that seems to work, which I guess for the immediate future makes it the best thing left.

My country's politicians are in the pockets of the media MAFIAA, so torrents are too risky. I have relied on animetosho for many years for the direct download mirrors (before XDCC, but as another comment mentioned many sources disappeared recently).
There's no real alternative as of yet that comes even close to animetosho's quality/simplicity/service.
The internet is getting smaller and worse again.

Is there an alternative that rips the subs? AT have been fantastic for this, not sure any alternative exists that do the same, don't want to have to get multiple files just for the subtitles, I mean ones where it also includes the chinese subs not just english

I only just saw the message of the shutdown D= You've probably already read this kind of message thousands of times but I also want to add my appreciation for your work and this site. I used it as an unofficial tracker on top of a place to dl my anime and it will be sorely missed. There's nothing to really quite replace it in my heart but wishing you the best in your future endeavors.

Most of it isn't so useful. In fact, I think you can run without it as the code has fallbacks for if it isn't there.

sendfile is slightly more efficient than read+write calls for uploading, but it only works with raw streams and basically all hosts these days use HTTPS, so doesn't get used any more. Though there's OpenSSL's SSL_sendfile if you want to go there, but the efficiency gain might not be worth it.
posix_fadvise was meant to help hint the disk scheduler, but you can mostly get the same effect with large read buffers, which is what the script does anyway, so not all that useful.

swap4 encoding is used for obfuscation when wrapping uploads in 7z archives. Currently no uploaders wrap uploads in 7z, but it's there if it's ever needed.
You can of course do the encoding in PHP, but the ways I could come up with were all significantly slower than doing it in a custom extension.

Now we have a date. I figured earlier in the month was going to be a reality based on previous posts about data consumption and lowering activity until it resets.

If someone wants to take over the site, they can do so by running their own copy of it. I'm happy to direct users to such copies.
I can answer some questions around the code, but I do expect people to mostly figure it out for themselves.

I spot a lot of technical debt, which feels like a annoying bunch of chores to deal with.  

I can't wrap my head around what https://github.com/animetosho/uploader-php-ext tries to resolve though.

Put a notice up on the site offering the chance for applicants to take over the site, spend a little time training them how to navigate the idiosyncrasies of your code (I know you once said that the code wasn't designed for others) Whats the worse that could happen? It's going to crash and burn anyway.

You also have the option of doing a crowd funding to go towards site costs and rewarding you for your efforts? I would donate.

It's always sad to see your favorite library closed. Imagine a premium service for subtitles, ddls and nzb with no ads at all for free that has been operating for the last 15 years. Also, admin never ask and/or accept any form of donations. That's what makes admin the GOAT and deserve a place in a hall of fame. Thank you and good luck, admin.

I suppose I can understand how nothing lasts forever, and sometimes the chapters in a person's life can change and such, and while I do GREATLY appreciate all that you've done on this site and for the anime community, I can only hope that you reconsider and change your mind ( maybe even accept donations for server maintenance costs or something ) and or pass the site onto a new person that will continue it going into the future. --- I mean, there's already far too much frustrations and misery going on in this world and AnimeTosho has been my main website.
