is v2 just added another subtitle track without Kara-FX?
what does it mean?
Direct links please.
I feel for your question marks.  This release was encoded 4 years ago by a version of mkvmerge from 6 years ago.  Unlike the series, available in 1080p BD from Doki and others, the movie hasn't had a BD upgrade as far as I'm aware.  It might not deserve new love for two reasons:

1. It's just a re-telling of Clannad and Clannad-After Story, compressing in one movie what was otherwise about 50 episodes worth of plot and characters
2. Clannad the series graciously allows you, to some extent, to decide for yourself how the series ends, with some ambiguities.  Clannad the movie does not.

But if you're a fan of the series

Torrent source is not valid, probably because the server was moved, so it can't be pushed at the moment.

A smaller (8G-10G) 1080 BD version of this movie will be highly appreciated.

Ah, my mistake, Europe and Japan are both in "Region 2", that's why i grouped them into PAL, haha thanks for pointing it out.
I'm not sure what was common back in the days of cell animation, but video/film is often mastered at 23.976fps (aka ~24fps), and you'll find that most rips (including this one) will be done at that framerate.
Anime, at least these days, is typically done at around 8~12fps, with stuff like pans getting the more fluid 24fps.

Your description of combining the 4th and 5th frame into one (aka decimating every 5th frame) brings 29.97fps to 23.976fps. This is often done if the film -> NTSC conversion is done by duplicating every 4th frame. To convert to PAL, you'd probably do a ~4% speedup to get 25fps. I don't know whether this is typically done though.

(note, the great thing about video is the huge number of "standards", or lack thereof in certain cases, so how things are done vary. I also have never looked at an NTSC DVD, as I am in a PAL region, so I don't really know how frame rate conversions are often handled)
Thanks, admin.  It worked perfectly.  It's very interesting and fun to watch the concert.  The re-encode seems fine for quality and it's a far more reasonable file size.  Strangely, the music in the live concert seems better than the studio recordings to me.  First time I've ever preferred "live" over studio for the same songs.  Perhaps something about spontaneous variation with live musicians muffles the cpu clock feel of otherwise absolutely accurate rhythms.

Thanks again.
Two things come to mind with conveting NTSC to PAL.
1 - With cell animation a majority was done at 15 fps to cut costs/time and they doubled each frame to make 30 fps (I don't know if they do this with CG).
2 - NTSC is 30 fps (29.97) and PAL is 25 fps. To achieve this they combine 2 frames into one (every 4th & 5th frame if I remember correctly).
PAL DVDs can run at 720x576 progressive via component cable and it looks decent enough . It really depends on how many episodes are squashed onto each dvd though.
Actually, Japan uses NTSC: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTSC

I don't know whether PAL releases are usually based off NTSC video (from what I can guess, they usually are), but I've actually rarely seen PAL DVDs have more than 480p (i/p whatever, generally doesn't make a difference for anime) "real" resolution. I've also seen a number of instances where the PAL release didn't do a proper IVTC and in general looks worse than the NTSC version.
For this reason, I'd generally prefer NTSC DVDs over PAL for anime.
Too much reduction of colors for episodes 3 and 4. As result, the color of various segments inside these episodes is unbalanced (faded). Recommend re-encoding.

The only "benefit" of the BD is a little less steam in the bath scene with Suguha and no scrolling text from the broadcast. That's practically it. Barely any changes were made, so technically if the guy wanted a TV version, he/she wouldn't miss out on anything.

Coldhell release should be good though.
