As a big Strike Witches fan, I was thrilled to find and be able to download the 2006 pilot OVA for the series [via Magnet Link] today Aug. 13, 2024, despite it being posted over a year ago.  Many thanks to whomever is keeping this file available & Nekomimi Subs!

Looking for episode 14 (season 2 episode 1)
The series numbers they have don't match the titles of the upload.

Firstly, that strategy doesn't work for any episode prior to 143, so you can't actually rely on it.

Secondly, AniDB tends to break up seasons, and even split cours, into their own entries, whilst a number of releases do the opposite and contiguously name episodes.
For example: "[SubsPlease] SHY - 18" - neither the first nor second season has 18 episodes. The correct tag is to map "S1E18" to S2E6.

The strategy may be incorrect for this entry, but it's impossible to know what naming scheme the release follows.

Why does it do mathematical gymnastics like that instead of just checking to see which Chibi Maruko-chan entry has an episode 1442?

As someone who has watched the show in chinese and some in japanese, i confirm what others have already deduced. Japanese have combined two chinese subsequent episodes into one.

The question is, which of the following does "Chibi Maruko-chan" refer to?
- Chibi Maruko-chan
- Chibi Maruko-chan (1995)

The bot thinks the former, but that only has 142 episodes. Since 1442 > 142, it must refer to the sequel (the 1995 version). Mapping to the sequel, we get S1E1442 => S2E1300.

People will put this much effort into cobbling together shitty inaccurate subs but refuse to take the time to learn Japanese so they can ensure the quality of their translation. Amazing.

Not to mention this is literally effort for nothing, considering the episode with official subs will be dropping in just a few months.

28 min an ep? Most JP anime I've ever watched with the OP and ED is under 25 min long. If it was 28 min there would be basically no room for commercials. Speaking as an encoder the anon who said 24 min is just about on the money.

Use your head. Its not rocket science. The source material is Chinese not Japanese. 22 episodes of 14min each.
If two episodes are 24 minutes in Japanese dub simple common sense says that the Japanese dub is combing two episodes together.  Instead of 22 you will get 11 episodes. If you subtract the into and ending of one of the episodes that's like 3 minutes right there to help whittle it down from 28 to 24 minutes.

thats because the episodes are only 12 minutes long.......

They appear to be messed up files, the media info for ep1 (from NYAA) shows the show as 12 minutes not 24.

If you don't know, this was ripped from B-Global, a Chinese source.  These are the subs they include.  You'd have to find a source that creates subs in your part of the world.
