Like many important things, first get it up. Anime Tosho 2 or II would help you gain immediate traffic.
Get fancy after you got it working like Anime Tosho as much as possible. If you must have adds, please allow option to turn them off or allow blockers.

The way AT is set visually is perfect. If you make it real fancy then speed of loading etc will be hampered.
This (AT) is the fastest of all the sites I frequent.

With a seedbox and VPN I can torrent anything that I currently want. IRC was great but currently sites are going down for various reasons.
IMHO, the anon above you just doesn't want to pay for anything (a true pirate).

Those link shortening services are more of an "ad serving service" - people using them get paid, which is why these sites often use them.

The end is near. I never expect that this site will be closed so soon, we're just a few days away from not being able to download airing shows. Nevertheless, I'm glad I found this website by accident. I've been downloading anime here for over a year and I'm really sad to see  it go. Thank you for the service o7.

Just want to say, after all this time, keeping your site yours and keeping it it clean - from ads, tracking, and all the other bs going on with the web now days - has been great to see. And while it is sad to see you go, I appreciate everything you've done and wish you all the best!

Been working on my own site in the wake of the news. https://aninzb.moe  It's nothing fancy, just want to pick up where you're leaving off, not that I'll be able to do as much as you have done. But it's a start, right?

Honest answer? Because I was using an old script I had for something else that was more geared towards thumbnails and I just migrated it over, completely overlooked that fact.

Just bare in mind the entire site is a hobby/side project - it'll be rough especially in these first days. I do appreciate you mentioning this though, completely overlooked that!

Torrent/Magnet - yes, they''re already being stored in the database and torrents being saved, but it may take me a few days to get it all sorted out. But they will be there.

Audio extraction: Hmm... good thought... so far my automation has only been going on a few days. As long as it continues to go smooth, I may add that in there. I feel like it's being held up by stitches lol. I may try it... not sure about the bandwidth but I'll definitely consider it.

I appreciate the thanks, but I'd just forward that to *admin*. This is just my little tribute to him I guess.

Will there be a seperate storage for extracted subtitles and stuff?

Maybe you can use ads for server costs. I'm okay with ads as long as they aren't too intrusive or redirect-happy (hate those redirect ads)

I will say, things are not hosted all on one server as is. I won't say much more about my architecture other than that.

As for ads, you will NEVER see ads on my site. Even with ad blockers off - there shall be no ads!

Subtitles are already there for things I have been able to do myself (only the last week). I'll try and get a back fill of subtitles for these. If admin does release a full batch of his, I'll definitely carry them over (same with screenshots too).

Audio extracts though... I'm mixed on it... It would be nice, but I feel like I am walking a fine line. It's something I may do down the rode though. We'll see.

I think animetosho's automated audio extraction + uploading to third party sites (buzzheavier, gofile) is fine, even if they're removed after 1 week. Maybe you could try doing the same setup for your site if possible?

I like getting the audio without having to download the whole file.

The automation process is entirely self-made. I haven't even looked at tosho's process yet, that's something I enjoy figuring out on my own :) I do plan to add more stuff like full attachment extractions and everything else, i will most likely be adding audio too, we'll see. I'll first try self hosting and see how bandwidth goes. But it may take me a while to get it all sorted out. I feel like it's very much being held by thin threads at times (and developer knows what I mean ^^;)

Hi there, hope you're having a nice day.

Thank you very much for the hard work and excellent service over all these years. It's no easy task keeping a ship like this running for so long so we completely understand why sunsetting it was inevitable. We're rather impressed it's been live for so long. We briefly tested and used an ambitious replacement service but the costs were just too high to justify its continuation so it too met its inevitable end. Bravo on making AnimeTosho possible for all these years.

We've said before we really appreciate that the subtitles and attachments of old and forgotten releases have been archived and preserved and we're further grateful that you plan to package that data and release it to the public. Hopefully someone makes it easily accessible but we wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't happen. Nevertheless, we thank you for the generosity and dedication to making it easy for the next person to pick up the pieces.

We wish you the best of luck in your next venture.

Thank you, sir. Most back then didn't even realize if they left my files in their torrent client client all the files fell in the same folder. I set the way for a bunch of other groups to do things but they will never admit it.
I have no issue with it but have noticed how things have changed over my time.
