Endless Eight was the pointless episodes. Just watch the first and last one because in-between is all the same. Also it was part of Haruhi 2009, the chronological one, so it's not technically part of the "first season."

What do you expect? They're both from KyoAni, of course it has the same animation style.

I started watching the 1st season on youtube in english, then I found out about the Infinite Eight story (not to mention the animation style), and very fast lost interest. Haven't bothered finishing the 1st season since. I also started calling Haruhi "The Melancholy of K-ON!" cause of the same style from K-ON!

I just hope they release something smaller for comparison sake.

"Batch DVD" with sub-480p resolutions?  I don't think so.  And neither does Nyaa, as the torrent has been deleted.  What these really are, are the weekly releases as ripped from Nico or whoever.  The rumor was that these episodes will now be broadcast in proper 720p soon --actually this season, I thought?

Doki vol 2: There were a couple of times when TT was down for a few days around the time the vol 2 probably came out.  AT tried to catch what was missed, but it's too late now.  Maybe some random YogiCat can help (--a strange visitor from another planet with powers far beyond those of mortal men --(trivia -source?)

Otherwise, if you click on the "Series" link above, you'll see all that we have of this title.  The DmonHiro version came though recently and may have links for all episodes, or you may be able to fill in with Broadcast Doki until you get the missing BD's.

Hardsubbed henti for your benefit: The problem was porno-pay sites were quick to alter the softsubs to remove the fansub credit (and not for sale rental, etc warnings), then add their own label and charge people to access it.

One more no vote for the web site.  But with a new release, they might be working on the site, so up or down for a while.  Great to see SubDESU back, if they are.  This was submitted to TT by the usual SubDesu guy.  They stopped submitting to Nyaa as of Oct 3, 2012 for whatever reason, as have other groups.

"Hi444p" Not a caffeine induced typing error but an experiment in chroma subsampling (4:4:4, instead of 4:2:0) to look for new gains in color detail.  It's also Hi10p and expected to have heavier cpu usage and bigger file than regular Hi10p-720p, but less than Hi10p-1080p.

Is this the cutting edge or just some more fansub goofiness?  It'll cost you 7GB to have an opinion.

You might want to look into XDCC and Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network. All the subgroups are set up for it and either they or fans have packlists of current and past releases. It can be much faster than DDL and sometimes the only method to get older files.

Notes:
1. If we have the gg version, it was a spoof of the whole series.  If we have the Daman version, it is Dual Audio (English and original voice actors).  And there are probably some mini-mkv encode versions of any of these as well.
2. As the original broadcast came to the final episodes, UTW expressed a lot of disdain/dislike for this series, as had gg earlier.  Only Chihiro was a fan of it to the end and wanted to do the BD's as well.  (I think Doki also did it and seemed neutral about the show.)  Fansub theory suggests Chihiro's version is therefore probably the one to try first.

There are a few small differences between the British and American versions:
1. When they say the word "colour", what they mean is "color"
