DVD set was just released around 2 weeks ago by Viz (meaning that was that first ever available English dub option for said episodes). 18 episodes around 1.2gb per episode. Only other release here for dual audio was 40gb for 8 episodes (on March 31st) which obviously didn't go through. Thanks

It seems this version contains updated subtitle script styling (OP, ED, etc) from the relevant Chihiro fansub release.

The video and audio themselves are identical.  The extra size is accounted for by the addition of more font files and the larger subtitle script for typesetting works.

Well since it's possible to check file quality in seconds on the filehoster or download the episode in a couple minutes or less. It took less time to learn the EPISODE LOOKS GREAT than to write this reply. It was nowhere near fucked, and that alone says enough to tell me YOU have no clue what you are talking about. First of all, it's bold to assume people will be watching this in MPV. As much as I put efforts in making people close to me switch to MPV for my releases, it's fair to assume most people don't care and are watching stuff in VLC, MPC-HC or whatever other stupid player there exist. The tonemapping experience will be nowhere close to that of MPV, and that alone can lead to a much more fucked up experience than anything I could've produced assuming it was bad. Which it was not: the tonemapper consisted of the Mobius function from core.tonemap fed with the brightness information of each frame gathered with dovi_tool. Was it optimal? No, motbob found a better solution, which I ended up adopting for the v2, because I'd have to be stupid to refuse to use a better solution when it exists. I checked by eye that my v1 tonemapping was correct, and I did notice that the brightness could be off in some scenes, it was still way more accurate than any other VS/ffmpeg tonemaper I knew of at that moment. So yeah, sorry, I won't be taking "advice" from someone who can go as low as calling other people the way you called me while hiding behind an anonymous tag. I find it amusing you would be targetting me with a "become better at filtering" claim in the comment section of an "encoder" who has no idea how to filter at all and is very well known for having produced garbage content forever. Get lost.

You must have confidence issues if you think I'm going around every other release I'm competing with telling every single person: "hey this is bad!".
I appreciate there being competition in this field, even though we AV1 encoders are the only ones pushing stuff forward in the mini encodes sphere. Remind me when EMBER, Judas, ASW or whenever made any improvement to their releases? Never, they've been stagnating from the day they appeared. I think you misunderstand my attitude, I'd rather see the aforementionned encoders improve so that what we do is made irrelevant. However it's been clear that they won't budge, so yes I'm progressively gonna be more and more aggressive towards their encodes as time goes on in order to make THEM irrelevant.
