Thanks for raising the issue.
BuzzHeavier seems to have changed their upload process, which prevented the existing script from working.
I've updated it to adopt their changes, and it seems to have worked so far.
This meme group is still around? I wish they'd die off already. Nobody wants their AI slop.

Your comparisons just prove the point. AI's translations are more stiff and unnatural sounding.

Do you seriously think every group would suddenly be be late if there wasn't a reason for it? For some reason, this week Netflix did not ship the episode with any subtitles except Japanese SDH.

damn, whats been going on with Blue Box, anyone know why it took so long for the torrents to get uploaded?

also yes I can see there have been new uploads for ep 7, but why the sudden delay? Netflix Japan cracking down or are just the usual groups taking longer than usual?

I don't want AI slop translations, period. But if you're an AI advocate shitheel and AI takes your job, I think it'd be karmic punishment. I could care less.

glad someone gets it.  these subs suck, people have too low of standards. either leave the work to actual translators/fan subbers or just learn Japanese lol

Truth be told, Blue Box is so cliched in every aspect even computers can translate it perfectly. That's not worth quarreling over.
What we should discuss seriously is why japanese animation industry continues to produce such cliched output even in the post-Aobuta / Bokuyaba / Garukura era. They have been shown what inspired storywriting, interesting characters and great visuals really mean, yet they continue to produce 99% garbage.

LeMeme subs of GBC was MTL-ed from the official french ADN simulcast and maliciously sprinkled with memes, like "If you quit now, it's joever!" (However, genocide Joe did quit in real life a few weeks later.)
There was also a GBC fansub war between the human translators of Nakayubi and SobsPlease, over two short but crucial phrases in episode 8. "Kokuhaku" means confession but whether it's a romantic, religious, criminal one or just Weezer is up for interpretation...
Watching the various GBC fansubs as soon as they appeared added tremendously to enjoyment of this excellent series. (I think Nakayubi was best but it's incompletel, lacking the first 2 or 3 eps.)

Nothing you mentioned actually matters.

1 The reference to the source has absolutely no significance. What is being translated is the adaptation, not the source. Many things in the adaptation may be changed.

2. Modern slang basically never has any use in anime or manga. In addition, publicly available commercial LLMs (GPT, Claude etc) have datasets no older than a year. If you watched the video what someone posted above (the one from Sora, dude is a professional English-Japanese translator and quite a popular youtuber, I assure you he has enough knowledge to judge what he's talking about) you'd see that not only there is no problem with slang, but also with dialects or even colloquial, formal and internet speech.

3 Typesetting is most often a purely aesthetic issue (not counting a few specific series). This thing is to be taken care of by a person. For me personally, nothing else than translating the most important things from the characters at the top of the screen is necessary.

Surely, Mr. Samefag.

Here are some examples from a previous episodes. I would choose AI every time without any hesitation.
I don't know what specifically you're trying to achieve with this hate, but if you hate AI so much, I don't think anyone is forcing you to use it? Just stop shitting on releases that don't interest you without any basis. And if you already want to, give some factual arguments and examples. But you won't, because you didn't even watch the episode with those subtitles.

In conclusion - of course it could be better. However, these subtitles were never created for someone to use them as a release, from what I've read. Nevertheless, they are perfect to use as a base and apply minor corrections, possibly typesetting.
That doesn't change the fact that AI can understand the context and construct sentences better from the text itself than Netflix's translators. This is very impressive to me, and unlike you, I can see what a great tool LLMs ALREADY are. And with each month it will only get better.

I just watched the episode with these subtitles. Honestly, if I hadn't accidentally spotted that AI was used, I never would have realized. Aside from a few sentences that could have been a bit more naturally written and the mistaken gender of a completely side character that wasn't mentioned earlier in one place, everything else is consistent with the Japanese text and it reads really well. I don't know what you mean, but you certainly didn't watch with the subtitles. Compared to what I've seen in Netflix subtitles in past episodes, this is quite an upgrade. Your blind hatred of AI completely blurs your perception of reality.

I'm assuming you were watching the MTL with some shitty memes thrown in. SobsPlease and NakayubiSubs were human-translated and were both very good quality.

Is AI going to magically understand newly-formed vocabulary and slang? Is AI going to know how to refer to the original source material if it needs to? Is AI going to also accurately typeset and translate on-screen signs instead of just piping through the audio or Japanese closed captions file as the bare minimum?

AI is still shit at doing translations for anime/TV shows. And it certainly doesn't help that the vast majority of people who use it to shit out "fansubs" are indians who don't know a lick of Japanese and barely know English either. They literally have NO way of being able to check the work the AI puts out because they don't know either language they are trying to work in.

AI subs? are you telling me to use AI to translate scripts? I don't think that's a good idea. However, I also hear that you can "train" AI so it can "learn". Do you think AI subs will be decent someday? We'll see.

"AI takes into account the entire context, including from previous episodes. It translates in the style it is instructed to, and can do proofreading and editing." Yes, let's just ignore human translators or the work of fan subbers who've kept anime piracy alive since its inception. If you want an AI to do your work, then I don't think your interested in actually doing the labour needed to make decent translations, I think you just want an easy-out for whatever agenda you're pushing. Also, this is all very opaque, it's not like I can see under the hood and see how these translations are actually being developed.

If AI becomes good enough to take your day job, I don't think you guys would be making the same argument. But then again, it's not that far long.

I know, I'm already used to ddls getting deleted after a few days so I try to download the files as soon as they are available. That being said, Buzzheavier uploads last longer than other sites so it'd be nice if the option was brought back.

Watch this, because your knowledge was already outdated a year ago.

AI and MTL are two different worlds.

MTL in a best case scenario can translate a sentence correctly, although it often comes out wrong and sounds terrible.

AI takes into account the entire context, including from previous episodes. It translates in the style it is instructed to, and can do proofreading and editing.

The world is changing a lot. As recently as 2-3 years ago, I would have said the same thing as you.
But not here and now.
